Description
Morristown, NJ – Morristown National Historical Park (NHP) has received a grant from the New Jersey Society of the Cincinnati to fund a new rotating photography exhibit.
The Society of Cincinnati was formed in 1783 by officers of the Continental Army in honor of Lucius Quinctius Cincinnatus. The Society is the nation's oldest patriotic organization promoting the understanding and appreciation of the American Revolution and its legacy.
Park Chief Curator Dr. Jude Pfister said “Washington spent more time in New Jersey than any other state during the Revolution. The echoes of his impact, and his army’s, have been captured in the portraits that the photographer Xiomaro created of an ever-shifting yet timeless view shed. We are grateful to the Society for their generosity.”
Morristown National Historical Park, the first such designated historical park in the National Park System, is 90 years old in 2023. The photography exhibit reflects the 90th anniversary and the historic preservation movement by which history became a public good.
Through the lens of photographer Xiomaro, the large format prints artistically showcase the beauty and historical significance of the park's Jockey Hollow landscape, the architecture of the iconic Ford Mansion, and the rarely seen interiors of the Cross Estate Mansion.
Xiomaro is an internationally recognized artist and published author who has been featured in numerous media outlets in the United States, England, and Greece.
