There was no shortage of great music in Greater Morristown over the weekend.

Proving that impossible things are happening every day, Morristown High School’s theater group pulled together a million moving parts for its weekend musical, Cinderella:
And on Friday, the Troubadour in Morris Township presented one of the most beloved duos in the Americana/Folk realm, The Kennedys.
Pete and Maura Kennedy noted their joy at playing live shows again, after a steady diet of pandemic livestreams. By their count, they performed 1,011 different songs — “Every song we ever recorded, every song we ever knew, covers of covers,” Maura reflected — over 134 weekly internet shows.
Their favorites are on a new album, Soul & Inspiration: Nuggets from the Livestream Archive, Volume 1.
They sang a few of those tunes on Friday, and honored Nanci Griffith, who died in 2021, by covering her Gulf Coast Highway and Love at the Five and Dime. The Kennedys toured with Griffith and her Blue Moon Orchestra in the 1990s.
The couple also did a nifty interpretation of the Golden Slumbers medley from The Beatles’ Abbey Road. Maura replicated Ringo’s drum solo on her guitar, while Pete handled solos by John, Paul and George.
This Friday at the Trouby: Culomba, with opener Katie Weiss & Friends.
