THURSDAY, MAY 2, 2024:

Free yoga is back at the Morristown & Township Library, indoors at 10 am, and every Thursday. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

The Morris County Economic Development Alliance presents Get to Know the SBA, a free talk at 10 am, at the Morris County Chamber of Commerce office, 325 Columbia Turnpike in Florham Park. It’s part of the Chamber’s Small Business Week celebration.

The Market Street Mission will lead a noontime service on the Morristown Green as part of a National Day of Prayer. All are welcome. If the weather is bad, the event will move inside the Mission chapel at 9 Market St., Morristown.

Also at the library: The Chess Club meets from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Free. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

Jazz favorite Grover Kemble performs at Rockaway’s Caffé NaVona, 147 Route 46, from 6 – 9 pm. Hear him play songs from his new album, I’m Serious.

Back at the Morristown & Township Library, The Conversation, starring Gene Hackman and directed by Francis Ford Coppola, kicks off the new weekly series 1974: Memorable Movies from Fifty Years Ago, at 6:45 pm. Free, light refreshments. At One Miller Road, Morristown.

The Mayo Performing Arts Center presents TAIKOPROJECT at 7 pm. Tickets: $29-$59. At 100 South St., Morristown, 973-539-8008.

Morristown’s St. Peter’s Episcopal Church hosts tango lessons in the Parish House, 7 pm for beginners, 8 pm intermediate class. At 70 Maple Ave.

The Madison Mostly Dance Festival presents an evening of Indian Classical Dance with Kalagangothri, a professional dance troupe from Edison. Tickets: $15. At the Madison Community Arts Center, 10 Kings Road.

FRIDAY, MAY 3:

The Morris County Economic Development Alliance concludes its Small Business Week celebration with an 8:30 am relaunch of the county’s Connect to Morris 2.0 job platform. Free with registration. At the Morris County School of Technology, 400 East Main St., Denville.

The Madison Mostly Dance Festival presents a 10 am free master class with Carolyn Dorfman Dance Senior Company Member Charles Scheland. For adults at all dance levels. Registration required. At the Madison Community Arts Center, 10 Kings Road.

At 7:30 pm, the Folk Project’s Troubadour series presents The Loose Canons with opener Carla Ulbrich.  Admission: $10; children 12 and under, free.  Livestream: $7. At 21 Normandy Heights Road, Morris Township.

The Madison Mostly Dance Festival and the Thomas Edison Film Festival present Dance on Screen at 7:30 pm, featuring 10 short films. Tickets: $10-$20. At the Madison Community Arts Center, 10 Kings Road.

SATURDAY, MAY 4:

The Morristown United Methodist Church kicks off its 29th annual Rummage Sale, from 9 am to 2 pm. Admission: Free. A wide range of items will be for sale, with proceeds benefiting the church’s summer mission trip to Appalachia. Also open on Wednesday, May 8, and next Saturday, May 11, 2024.  At 50 South Park Place.

The Morristown & Township Library hosts Indoor Qigong at 9:30 am. Free. No experience or registration required. Upstairs in the F.M. Kirby Gallery, at One Miller Road, Morristown.

The Fosterfields Living Historical Farm in Morris Township presents Born to be Shorn – Sheep Shearing Day & Fiber Arts Fun, from 10 am to 4 pm. Farm admission: $10. At 73 Kahdena Road.

The Morristown Shade Tree Commission invites everyone to its 11th annual Arbor Day Celebration, at 4 pm at the Burnham Park basketball court. Four new pin oak trees have been planted near the court.

The Madison Mostly Dance Festival presents Extensions Dance Project: Behind Closed Doors at 4 pm and 7:30 pm. Tickets: $15-$25. At the Madison Community Arts Center, 10 Kings Road.
