Description
The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development (NJDOL) has expanded its Workplace Accountability in Labor List (The WALL), targeting businesses that have failed to resolve their financial obligations under state wage, benefit, and tax laws. This recent update adds 17 businesses to The WALL, increasing the total to 145 companies statewide, which collectively owe a staggering $15.9 million.
The businesses newly listed have outstanding liabilities totaling $2,083,795.07, primarily for unpaid contributions to the Unemployment Compensation Fund and State Disability Benefits Fund. The WALL serves as a public record, identifying companies that have not settled their dues related to employee wages and state tax contributions, thereby maintaining a level playing field for all businesses.
The WALL initiative, established through bipartisan action in 2020, aims to combat worker misclassification and exploitation by barring the listed businesses from public contracting with state, county, or local governments until their liabilities are fully paid. This measure ensures that only compliant businesses benefit from public contracts, promoting fair business practices across New Jersey.
The recent additions to The WALL are:
- Indo-American Connection LLC
- Lomelo Design Associates Inc
- Faith Siding Corp
- Hill Development & Construction, LLC
- TNT Contracting & Consulting LLC
- H & I Construction, Inc.
- Vanderwiele Construction Inc.
- North South Construction Corp
- Al-Huda School Inc
- BonHeur P & D, Inc.
- Pineda Rack Installation Incorporated
- Jr's Stucco Systems
- Hector Y. Menjivar Drywall
- Fine Enterprises Inc
- BNL Construction Corp
- Vitacare Services Limited Liability Company
- Jam Musical Industries, LLC
These businesses are now facing significant repercussions, including potential public contractor debarment and business license suspension or revocation. Additionally, state procurement officers are required to check The WALL before awarding any public contracts, ensuring compliance and accountability.
NJDOL encourages anyone with inquiries or needing more information to reach out via their dedicated email or to view the comprehensive list and details about The WALL on their official website. This public tool reflects NJDOL’s commitment to protecting the state’s workforce and supporting ethical business operations.
